What's on your plate, teenager?

Our Junior High Tech Class is working on a magazine about malnutrition. We always thought hunger was a problem in Africa. Turns out we have problems in our own school! We've been keeping track of what we eat each day for a week now. Turns out some of us are starting the day with no breakfast. Lunch is chips and Gatorade. Dinner might be pizza and soda. So, even though a typical student eats, his or her body isn't getting any nourishment.
We'll be sharing our findings as we go along. Next week we're going to try (I said try) to eat healthy foods and see if we feel any different. It's sort of a "Supersize Me" in reverse.

Thanks to all the students who wrote in about their participation. This is not easy, but I believe it is something that will benefit you for all of your life.
Keep at it!

It has been over a decade since we created this site. I miss teaching all the great kids of El Rio. I just miss you all, period.
